Gimp

Hello all,

I have a 13 inch MacBook from early 2008 that I have taken great care of (I have used less than six gigabytes) and I wanted to download Gimp, the photo editing software. I learned that I had to download X11, and I did so with the disks that I kept from when I purchased my computer. I then downloaded Gimp, and attempted to open it, but it would not open, and gave me an error (Gimp has closed unexpectedly), and it gave me three options - Ignore, Report, or Relaunch. I attempted to relaunch, but the same thing popped up again. Does anybody know what I can do? I use Mac OS X 10.5.8, and the X11 came with the 10.5.0 disks.

Thank you.

Hi,

At Update tiem Apple Release two versions of the Update:-
1) A "Delta" that is one incremental Point (10.5.4 to 10.5.5 for instance)
2) A "Combo" that will include everything from the Base point (10.5) to the latest update (10.5.8)

Software Update will grab whichever is appropriate depending where your OS is at that moment ( A new computer may go for a Combo but is generally just the Delta).

The Combos can be run over the top of what you have an can "fix" hard to trace issues.
They also have to be run if you Reinstall an Apple app from the Install Disk which is likely to be several Updates behind the OS and most often need to match (iChat for instance is only updated with OS Updates)

Combo for 10.5.8 is here http://support.apple.com/kb/DL866
