Mail always sends a copy of emails I send to my inbox

I don't think Gmail expresses any preference, and most people use IMAP if they have smart phones and other computers. (Google prefers you to use web access, so you have to see their side stuff.) I haven't used Gmail as POP lately, but I seem to remember that when you do, that Gmail will send a copy to your Inbox when you send from any email client such as Mail. I will check that as time allows.

Hey Joe,

I recently setup Gmail to work with Apple Mail as well and had the same issue as you. I found the problem was in a default settings of Apple Mail.

"To have Mail store copies of messages you send on your mail server, choose Mail > Preferences, click Accounts, and select an account. Click Mailbox Behaviors and select "Store sent messages on the server." If this option is not selected, sent messages are stored on your computer and you won't be able to see them if you check your mail from another computer." Basically do the opposite of those instructions and uncheck "Store sent messages on the server." It worked for me so I hope it works for you too!

I am reasonably sure that what you suggest is unrelated to the reported question and issue. It also can only impact IMAP accounts, btw.

What was exactly as the problem it solved for you?

The source of this is the Gmail server, and nothing in Mail. Is access of your Gmail account as POP or IMAP?

Check in Mail > Preferences > Composing tab > see if "automatically CC or Bcc myself" is checked.
