Xerox Workcentre 7232 Printing with OSX 10.6.5

I have been fighting with our office printer for quite some time (months). A nearby building has the same printer, and we get exactly the same problem with the other machine (from the same computer).

The Xerox guy says that he thinks it's a driver problem, after finding out the second printer does the same thing.

The Xerox website says the printer is compatible with OS 10.6.

I have tried all the variations of the driver that is supposed to work.

The problem:

When printing more than one sheet, the yellow toner will not lay on the end of the document that first emerges from the printer, in both landscape or portrait. This creates a band of just blue and red and black for the first three inches of the document.

As long as I send one sheet at a time from the computer, it prints fine. For the most part, every single sheet past the first in any print job has exactly this missing yellow in exactly the same spot. Every now and then on a job of more than 20 sheets, there will be the odd sheet that prints properly.

If anyone else has encountered this problem and found a solution, I'd really appreciate a response. At this point, I'd really appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks!

Reading your post it does sound like a driver issue.

Do you know if the printer supports Postscript or PCL? If it supported either then you could look at creating a new print queue but instead of using the Xerox driver you could select Generic Postscript or Generic PCL Laser (depending on what the printer supported). If then when using one of these generic drivers the problem still existed then at least you could rule out the Xerox driver.

Turns out this POS had a corrupted driver ON the Xerox machine and the tech spent three hours finding a whitepaper on it and downloading the fix. I could not have solved this in a million years.

I didn't really know that these complicated copying machines have hard drives and operating systems of their own. Since both of our identical machines had this issue, I wonder how many other people have given up on color printing.

Turns out it's also only a problem when printing on heavy gloss paper.

I hope this helps somebody else!
