I do not have the renting problem.... but many seem to have it. One option is to rent it on the computer, let it download to their, and then stream it to the ATV2. That is what i do with purchases of HD movies. It stops the need to buffer repeatedly. For what it's worth, I love the additional capabilities of the ATV2 like Airplay from other devices including all the iOS devices. But this problem did not exist with ATV1 which I used for 3 years......... I'm sure they are cheap on eBay or craig's list.

I am having the exact same issue. I will not be using my AppleTV to rent at all anymore. I am very pleased with the netflix streaming so I will use it only for that. I am on my 5th hour of waiting for a 30 minute show to download. As an experiment I downloaded the same show on my laptop. It used the same Wifi connection in my house. Laptop was 6 minutes. This is horrible.

I am having the same problem - I rent a movie, I get message that it's ready to run and once started it often stops to load more... sometimes just leaving me hanging there, sometimes telling me that it's going to be another xx minutes until I can come back & continue watching it... all this while the 24 hour clock is ticking... is there a way to get my money back if the movie is just not playing as promised?

That's because your Apple Tv gets interference. Try changing your router channel or move the Apple Tv a bit.

This is what it should be : http://gallery.me.com/bgroslouis#100077/IMG_0127&bgcolor=black

We just purchased apple tv and tonight is our first movie rental night...2 hours to download. What a cluster. I am shocked this devise has had any good reviews and disappointed that I did not buy google tv. We have optimum online cable in connecticut; very fast network, so clearly this is an apple issue. For all you music lovers; I was hoping to stream rhapsody thru my stereo using apple tv as an interface since it works with Itunes. Rhapsody is not compatible with itunes or apple tv so this is also not the device to buy if you need a computer to stereo connection. Waste of money...if you need a netflix connection there are many other options.

I am having the exact same problem...tried to watch a movie for the first time last night: impossible!
the waiting time was over 8 hours, in the meantime the 24hour limited time to watch is ticking (very disappointing)
My internet connection is fast and I have no problems with Netflix (I was using Wii to watch Netflix before). I wonder how is it that some people do get to watch instantly or downloading movies at a very fast speed.
Could it be I'm doing something wrong? any ideas/suggestions that I can try?
thx
