The Component AV Cable is compatible with the iPhone 4.

The Composite AV Cable is also compatible with the iPhone 4.

Connect an iPod, iPhone or iPad to your television with the Apple Component or Composite AV Cable, gather up your friends and watch videos or slideshows together on the big screen. You can also connect the Composite AV Cable to your stereo or powered speakers for a room-filling audio experience.

This can be used for viewing video available with the iPhone's iPod or photos available with the Photos app as a slide show on a connected TV.

Not realy as that is exactly what they are leaning towards too...I mean Dual Core Processors...Console Level graphics...I mean who exactly needs this on a phone? These phones got more horsepower in them than some NoteBooks/NetBooks. Let see them Play Infinity Blade on a $500-$700 NoteBook and it will probably slow to a crawl...a $200 Netbook will not even play it. On top of that Desktops are getting smaller now too...

I think its a good option...plus its not like there are no phones that can do that now...A lot of phones can do this, its not realy a big deal for regular users but if your a power user like playing games, doing autocad, doing presentations...wouldnt it be nice to just plug in your phone on a big screen then just play/work away rather than transfering files in between phone and PC?

I use TV out with laptop to LCD TV all the time.
But laptop is still a heavy thing to carry.
image the following~
if you can take your phone and play anything you want on TV to your friends, that is definitly an add to that phone.
Or for business, you can have presentation into iphone and tvout to projector.

I know iphone 4 can do it with JB tvout 720p video smoothly.
jailbreak~ been there with iphone 3gs but some apps will slow it down.
So, I wouldn't try to JB it with iphone 4.
Simply, if apple free tvout with anything, it will be fantastic thing to show off.
