Deinterlacing Video?

I've got numerous movie files that I would like to play with iTunes or Quick Time Player. Unfortunately, they look bad because of the motion artefacts that result from the interlaced format. With VLC there is an option to deinterlace the video that makes the video look much better, especially when viewed in full screen mode. Is there any way of getting the same effect when playing movies in iTunes or Quick Time Player? If not, then please Apple, can you do something?

Thanks. I've got the Pro version and yes, it does have Deinterlace item in the Movie Properties window. But it only seems to affect playback within QuickTime Player 7. Even when the file is saved, it has no effect on playback in the default QuickTime Player or in iTunes. Frankly, VLC's deinterlaced playback is better and smoother and can be defined for playback of any file without changing the movie properties for a particular file.

It really seems that Apple would be doing everyone a favor if the iTunes and QuickTime Player apps had a deinterlace option in their preferences.
