Question

We Won't Get Fooled Again-type sound

Hello, brand new to a Mac, brand new to Logic. Just bought Logic Studio and I'm trying to figure out how to manipulate an organ to make this type of sound. Any suggestions?

MacbookPro, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

No Leslie, a tremolo (smoothing at zero, both sides in phase, triggered to 1/8th notes), auto-wah at something like 0.2 Hz, and reverb.

Townshend explains how he did it in the 'Who's Next' episode of 'Classic Albums'. Basically, it's organ through a synth filter with S/H modulation.

The think the Roland 2080 rack module has a close approximation of it.

If you're trying to cover it... I would use/sample the original track until the drums come in, and recreate from there. 😉

Hah - organ through wah filter, slow sine wave modulation and tremolo comes pretty close, though. 🙂

(doesn't get the smacking effect at the beginning of each tone though, true - that's a triggered synth filter)
