Yahoo Default location in Safari: how to change it permanently?

In Safari I have added (but don't recall how) to the toolbar an icon (with a "cloud") which takes me to the Yahoo! weather page:
http://weather.yahoo.com/france/ile-de-france/paris-615702/?unit=c

Once there I can enter another location (e.g. my hometown) and also specify this to be the "default location". But this default location apparently is not being stored, since when clicking on the cloud icon
I still get back to the original "Paris" weather.

Any idea how I could make my hometown permanent?
Cheers

Are there perhaps settings in Safari that I need to change, i.e that prevent the Yahoo page from accepting the changes to the default location which I made there?

Unfortunately, the settings are controlled by Yahoo, not your browser.

Perhaps I need to address this question to the developer of the "Cloudy" extension of Safari.

I wasn't aware this was a Safari Extension. Definitely try contacting the developer. That information should be in Safari / Preferences - Extensions.

I realize that I was not precise in my question.

Don't worry about that. Sometimes it takes going back and forth on a thread to figure it out.

Thank you for the star.

Thanks, Carolyne, for the pointer. But I don't understand the second sentence of the advice:
QUOTE:
The default city for the Weather App displays when you open the App. To view weather for another city:
Click the Options menu in the app, then click Settings.
UNQUOTE
i.e. I don't know where to look for the options menu, nor am I in an app, but on a Safari weblink: http://weather.yahoo.com/france/ile-de-france/paris-615702/?unit=c and it does not matter whether I am logged in to Yahoo or not.

???
Any ideas?

Carolyn, I realize that I was not precise in my question. I now know how I got the "Cloudy" app through Safari>Safari Extension Gallery>Cloudy (the third app in the News section, right at the top).

So my question should have been: how to I change the default in this app, such that clicking on the "Cloudy" icon in the toolbar takes me directly to my hometown, not to Paris.

I understand your approach (and made it work) through logging in to Yahoo and there add the weather app and change the default location, but I'd like to avoid this roundabout way if possible. Perhaps I need to address this question to the developer of the "Cloudy" extension of Safari.

Are there perhaps settings in Safari that I need to change, i.e that prevent the Yahoo page from accepting the changes to the default location which I made there?

I found the answer, thanks for the help and clarifications!

Here it is:
Download the "Cloudy" app (or any app) through Safari>Safari Extension Gallery;
then click on Safari>Preferences>choose the Extensions tap, scroll down to "Cloudy" and enter there the Location Code for your location; you'll find these codes at:
http://www.edg3.co.uk/snippets/weather-location-codes/

Voila.

Cheers and thanks again.

I gloated too early! 😟
Rather than adding the Code for the location (eg AUXX0044) I had to enter the URL of the Yahoo weather page with the new default location, only than does it work, sort of, e.g. does not accept Celsius, rather than Fahrenheit, but that's acceptable. I just think that some of these apps are not totally consistent, but how can we argue, when they are free. 🙂
Again, thanks and cheers,
Veit
