1. Open Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings > Continue with the reset, your iPhone will re-start. *(No personal data deleted, only basic functions are reset)*.

2. Once rebooted, Open Settings > Phone > Turn FaceTime OFF. Also, ensure your 'My Number' is correct above FaceTime.

3. Re-connect to your WiFi network.

4. Now turn FaceTime ON (as per step 2). FaceTime should re-activate your number from fresh.

5. Call another iPhone 4 user and then press FaceTime button within the call.

Let me know if you manage this.

I have gone through all that and gone through the whole of troubleshooting to no avail. I have played with my routers setting at home to ensure the ports are open, still nothing. Went to a different WIFI hotspot not far away and still the same nothing happening on my iphone. Is there anything else to try?

If you try all the suggestions you are getting here and the problem continues, try restarting (off, then back on):

or restoring your iPhone:

If none of these things resolve your problem at any iPhone-friendly wi-fi hotspot, return the phone to your retailer for service or replacement.
