Itunes persistent error -42032

New itunes (10.1.0.56) does not work with Windows XP. Authorizing of computer or purchasing/downloading apps cause "Unknown error occurred (-42032)".

According to other blogs, this error persists for several weeks, with no reaction from Apple. Have you any solutions available?

Cyril

I have been experiencing exactly the same thing when trying to authorize my computer for last couple of weeks or so and have not been able to solve it yet. Pretty annoying, cannot play my purchases since then. Apple Support has not been helpful so far. Have tried all the things like deleting SC files and so forth.

Drat.

Okay. Let's try creating a new user account with full administrative rights. Log out of your usual account and log into the new account. (Don't use fast user switching to move between account.)

Launch iTunes. (No need to add files, just let it open to an empty library.) Try the authorisation again. Does it go through without the error this time?

(If so, just quit iTunes and log back into your usual user account to get to you normal library.)

Bad news, the problem is back again.
After one reboot, my ordinary as well as the 'testing' empty account (on my computer, not itunes) exhibit the same error.
Reinstalling of itunes helped for a while, but all my purchases went away.

Now, the "test" computer account works (is authorized), the ordinary does not. However, I don't expect it will last too long.

The whole concept, when the iphone is tied just to one crappy application is wrong.

Yeah. Same here. After switching off and on my computer, the same error occurs even on the new, empty, "test" windows account. So every time I want to sync my iPod I have to create new "test", empty windows account. Pretty inconvenient. Guess we got to wait for some iTunes update where it will be hopefully fixed....?

I have this error since Monday Jan 24th. It was all OK till Friday before.
FYI I have update my iTunes to last version 10.1.1.4 about 2 weeks ago and I have iPhone with iOS4.2.1 since it was releasted.

So, something has to changed last weekend on iTunes Store, because everything was OK for me before.

Anyway here is a trick which works for me:
1) Close iTunes
2) Open cmd line and write there: ipconfig /flushdns and press enter
3) Open iTunes and ... it works 🙂

I can purchase new apps and also I can download new apps updates.
I did not try Sync yet, so I will see...

Hello,
I've been having problems with error -42032 recently. The funny thing is, that some days there are no problems with authorization and downloads, but some days it is just impossible.
I tryed deleting the "SC Info" folder, but guess what: There is no SC Info folder on my PC, there isn't even the "Apple Computer" folder!
What sall I do?
Thanks,
Martyk11
