(IMPORTANT) How to retrieve old Entourage emails? I no longer use Office.

From 2000-2009, I used Microsoft Office 2004 and specifically, Entourage. I no longer use Office or Entourage; I use Apple Mail.

I'm trying to access old Entourage emails sent over the period 2007-2009. I keep these on a partitioned copy of my former laptop's contents, the one that spins around and loads when I click on the laptop's name.

Formerly, after calling up my old laptop's contents, I could just click on the Entourage icon and an interface would come up with all of my old emails. This time, because I inadvertently updated Office 2004, all I get is an empty email window (with new graphics, no more useful than before). It asks if I want to import an Entourage archive. There is one on my HD under User Profiles, but the updated Entourage can't import it; it says the archive is damaged.

These are really important emails. What's the best way to retrieve them? Thanks for your advice.

It's not that simple. An automatic update of Entourage (Office 2004) has started me clean, not recognizing the prior accumulated email messages.

The Entourage mailboxes, so far as I can tell, are stored with the contents of the prior laptop I owned, which is kept on this HD but not accessible without leaving Snow Leopard 10.6.5 and reverting to an earlier version, on another desktop.

Would it help to revert to an earlier version of Entourage, if I can? Where would I find earlier versions?
