Shutting down and Memory Slot notification

I have a year old Mac Pro that I haven't had any issues with so far. I came back from the weekend and I had a pop up on my screen saying I needed to shut down my computer. After I restarted I got a strange message I've never seen before : "Memory Slot Utility: The Memory modules are installed in the recommended slot" . After working on the computer for about 20 minutes it went to the faded screen again and told me I had to restart my computer. This has happened 4 times to me over the last 5 hours. Suggestions?

mac pro, Mac OS X (10.6.4), quad core intel Xeon 2.66GHz quad core 6 gb memory

My guess, time to get those replaced.

In the meantime, I would avoid using.

You could run AHT and see if there are any errors during Extended Loop test.

And you could try running with just a pair or even one DIMM.

Other than reseating the RAM, do you have a UPS? if you leave a system on full time that should rate up with being essential. Perhaps something happened while gone?
