Q: laserwriter select 360

Hello. I have an older mac mini running 10.5.8 to which my much older laserwriter select 360 connects through an asante ethernet to localtalk bridge. Everything worked fine until this morning. Anything sent to the printer just produces in a grey-scale grid of about 1 inch squares on half the paper. Sometimes the grid is reduced to about 0.25 inch squares. I have never seen anything like it.

It is possible that it mis-interpreted some postscript command. I would power it off for a few minutes and see if it regains its senses.

    Joseph,

Another option is to run a test page with the printer disconnected from the computer. I will have to dust off my tech disk and see which micro switch fires up the test page. I still use a 360 with my Quadra 700. They are still great printers.

Hopefully the problem is in translation through the Asante hardware. It is cheaper to replace.
