Others unable to access iDisk public folder on iPad

I'm posting this here because this only relates to iPad use - no issues with public folder on PCs or Macs.

I use my public folder on my iDisk to share files with colleagues, of course. However, two colleagues, one who uses his iPad with a PC and one with a Mac, cannot access my public folder. The outline of the public folder's directory briefly appears, then changes to a splash page for mobile.me, telling them that they have to sign up. This happens whether they use a link I send them from mobile.me or if they just type the "idisk.me.com/username" URL in Safari.

I don't see anyone else having this problem. Is there somewhere i could start looking for a solution?

Hm. I don't see anything in the literature that iDisk public folders are not available to the iPad. If someone doesn't have a mobile.me account, can they still use the app? I didn't think so - I thought you had to register your mobile.me account to be able to initialize the app for the first time. I mean, I use it, but these 2 friends don't have mm accounts.

Correct, but neither do they include iDisk access in the list of things which are accessible. I think that, at least for now, their only option will be to use some other browser on their iPads to access your Public folder.

Thanks, you're right - the literature DOES say you can't access the public folders with the iPad version of Safari, if you look hard enough! I hope they fix this in a future release.

MobileMe tech suggested setting up a restricted mobile.me account on my family plan, and giving the other person(s) access to the account via password so they can download the iDisk app and thus gain access to the wonderful world of iDisk file sharing. That worked for me.
