How do I empty the iPad Mail trash?

Ok so I deleted emails and they go into trash mailbox. Is there a why to empty the contents of this box (empty tHe trash) . . .or select several emails within a box to delete all at once? I would think that eventually all these trashed emails it's saving would take up significant space.
