Stabilization- Max Zoom slider not showing up.

Hi,
I'm having a problem with the stabilization all of a sudden. I did an analyze. The amount of shake isn't terrible but it's there. There are no squiggly lines in the clip I'm trying to stabilize. As you can see in the screenshot that it allows me to click the "Smooth clip motion" but the slider is not there for zoom. Any ideas why this is happening all of a sudden? It happens on all clips in this event. The entire event was analyzed after importing.

Thanks!

I am also having the same issue. If I am adding the same clip to my friend's imovie, the stabilization works. Surprisingly, in the same project some of the clips are showing the slider but majority of the movie clips are missing it and it is not that badly shaken clips also. It is frustrating and no forum seems to have answer to this problem.

Apple, please wake up and address it.

It took me a while to figure out what's going on. In short, in order to make the stabilizer work, you can only include one squiddily line in each clip.

So when you add the clip to the project, make sure you split each squiddily lines, either in the event library or in the project library. Then you will be able to set the stabilizer max zoom for each clip. If your clip has more than one squiddily lines, the slider in the max zoom will disappear.

You can preview the stabilized result in the event library - by selecting the section that only has 1 squiddily line, and control click, you should see an option "play with stabilization preview".

Hope this helps, my fellow mac users.

I am also having problems with stabilisation. I import clips from my Canon camcorder, analyse for stablisation after import. The stablilisation does not work at all. When I select clip adjustments, the box is ticked which says smooth clip motion but the maximum zoom is 100% and the slider is greyed out so you cannot even manually adjust the zoom.

Why is the slider greyed out (the clip is not particularly shaky and there are no squiggly lines)?

unfortunately that didn't work (although I have not started a new user account as not sure what that would do).

Some of the clips have squiggly lines and have been stablilised, whilst most have not and the slider is not showing as being movable.

The only thought I had was to edit the clips, export the movie as 1 file and reimport and see if I can analyse and stabilise the shorter duration of clips?

I really have no idea why this is happening and it's not the first time.

(although I have not started a new user account as not sure what that would do).

Go up to top left corner of screen Apple menu and down this to System preferences - Here select Users/Accounts and press plus sign and create a new User.

Go down Apple menu - bottom - logout - then log in as the new User.

Test if iMovie behaves.

This action will force Your Mac to create ALL preference files as New - Error free ones.

So if iMovie now works OK - then the problem is a corrupted pref file to 99.9%.

Thanks - unfortunately this did not work. Spoke to Apple too and they could not help. They suggested reinstalling snow leopard and imovie but I don't have the hard disc space.

What I have done is selected a minute or two of edited clips, copy and paste into a new project, export the movie as an mov file to my desktop, reimport the movie to my original project and slice the 1 minute clip back into single clips. Then analyse for stablisation and it works - a long winded way and not sure of why there is the problem. Apple also suggested it may be due to my camcorder although I have not experienced these problems six months ago and I had the same camcorder then.
