iTunes Crashes After4 Upgrade to 10.1.1

On phone with Apple now. iTunes will not load after update. Have tried re-boot. Going to try re-install after guidance.

iMAC, MACBOOK, Mac OS X (10.6.4), iPhone 3G 16GB, iPOD 5G, iPad, iMac Intel

Hi guys, me too same problem. I trash new release and restore from Time Machine. Wait for Apple discussions before reupdate

Well that seemed to work. Deleted Itunes and downloaded the latest again from the website. Installed and all working again okay now.

Folks,s

Just went through the following steps to resolve the issue.

Download 10.1.1 from iTunes download page but DO NOT install. http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Copy your iTunes LIbrary to backup drive and/or desktop

Reference this support article

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224

Follow article but DO NOT perform steps, 2 & 6 which come after the restart. These steps call for deleting your iTunes library!!!

Once complete with article, install iTunes 10.1.1 from download. Then before starting iTunes move your iTunes library back to its original location

This worked for me.

I can only tell the very same story. No iTunes for me, after updating. SO THIS IS A MEGA WARNING TO ALL, DO NOT DOWNLOAD.

I confirm this steps for me.
1) I downloaded iTunet 10.1.1 from Site and overwrite the old release.
2) NO Software Update it, PLEASE !!!!!

Slight update.

I just downloaded iTunes from Apple and reinstalled, I did not even uninstall the pervious version first. Now it works !

I initially had the same problem when updating via Software Update. I downloaded iTunes directly, installed it and its working fine as I write this.
What's happened with Apple?

Installed update: iTunes would not start.
Downloaded complete 10.1.1 installer and re-installed: All good.

I had installed the "color icons" hack. Maybe that broke it? Anybody else done that?

No hacks installed here.

Sounds like best bet is to bypass Software Update and just download from iTunes site.

Hi Stan52.
You're right. But I can't help thinking about the next updates via the automatic update from my Mac. Will it do the same in the future? Apple is not a comfort zone for my Mac at the moment. I now have to spent time investigating the usability of future updates!

I had the same problem as all of you mentioned. I let automatic updates install the new version of iTunes 10.1.1 and iTunes would not open afterward. I downloaded the same version from Apple's site, installed directly over the previous update and all is now fine. For what it's worth, I have no third party software installed on my iMac.

Same problem here after "upgrade" to 10.1.1. iTunes wouldn't open. Had to restore from Time Machine. I'm going to wait a while before downloading any software update for iTunes. This is just the most recent example of Apple getting very sloppy with their releases. I'm getting closer to leaving Mac OS altogether.
