Mail keeps rejecting Hotmail password
Even after fixing it from Keychain Access, it still persists!!
Anyone experienced that and resolved that?

i am getting the same error as well, but mine is also rejecting the CORRECT password once i reenter it
so this issue has been going since 2010 and it is now 2013 and APPLE still hasn't fixed this issue *** apple get it fixed now

FINALLY FOUND THE SOLUTION! Thanks to the kid at my local Apple store who was not aware of the issue but figured it out anyhow. The issue is with the two-step verification process in Microsoft. Following some urging through Microsoft messages, i turned this feature on. At some point after that, both my iphone and mac mail started rejecting my password. Couldn't find a solution on any forums here so finally took the issue and my iphone into my local Apple store. After trying a couple of things, the helpful kid came up with the solution. If the two-step verification process is turned on, you need to set up an "app password" for some devices. I my case both my devices, iphone and macbook air, were affected. With the help of the Apple kid i fixed the issue on my iphone and went home and did the same with my macbook air. HERE'S THE FIX:
Log in to your Microsoft account through another channel other than mac mail.
Go to account settings and click on security info.
Click on 'Create a new app password' and follow instructions.
ALTERNATIVE FIX: TURN the two-step verification OFF.
Following this process, your original password should work on these devices, i suspect, until some event prompts you to create a new 'app password.'
