Why does Pandora Radio not work on Macbook Pro?

New Macbook Pro. Why does Pandora Radio not work. All I get when I go to Pandora is the message: Plug-in not installed. What do I need?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

There is an Adobe plug-in you need to run the Pandora widget--if that's what you're trying to use. I'm afraid I can't remember what it's called, but the widget should not only tell you it needs to be installed, but offer to install it and do all the work for you if you tell it to go-ahead and do it.

If the widget is not doing this, erase it and re-install it.

If you're just on Safari and trying to use Pandora, you should be able to. However, be aware that certain parts of Pandora's site are easily hobbled by Safari's "block pop-ups" option.

I am currently having the same problem with my Macbook Pro, yet when I install the newest version of Adobe Flash Player and return to Pandora's homepage, I still receive the "Missing Plug-in" error.

I am a brand new Mac user, is there something special I need to do to make sure Flash Player downloads correctly (besides running the installation manager?)

Thanks.

It should just work. Are you running any Safari extensions, user scripts, system-level network proxies, etc. that filters the Internet, blocks "malware," blocks JavaScript, blocks ads, extensions, plug-ins, or Flash? While useful, those utilities can easily make some parts of web pages not work. If you have anything like that installed, try seeing if it works better if you disable the blocker.

I have experienced this myself and found that I had to add site addresses like Pandora to the protection software's "whitelist" so that they would not be blocked.

Another way to test this is to go into a different browser and/or a different user account, and try it there. Whether it works in other web browsers or user accounts will help you isolate whether it is a problem with a particular browser, a problem only in your account, etc.

I'm a new MBP user (just bought my first Mac this past Friday).

I too had the missing plugin error on the Pandora site and downloaded/installed Adobe Flash player, but still got the error.

HOWEVER, being new to Mac, I only thought I had installed Flash when I had only actually downloaded it. So others that run into this, you have to go to the "Downloads" folder and then install Flash. After doing so, it worked like a charm.

Thank you chukberry. That's exactly what i had done: downloaded but not INSTALLED flash player. I would have thought it would be a little more user friendly, but I had to OPEN the icon and then install. Pandora is back! Thanks!

I don't know if anyone is still having this problem or not but if anyone is looking at this forum with this problem, Do the following......

Tap on Safari in the corner of your browser.

Go to Preferences

In the securities tab make sure that Allow internet plug ins is ticked and then click on Plug in settings

Make sure the the Adobe Flash Player is ticked in the left hand pane, then make sure at the bottom of the page It has a box that says when visiting other websites, make sure that is set to "ON". Hope this helps out.
