iTunes 10 - Error 1935 (0x800736B3)

I have been trying to upgrade my iTunes so I can sync my new iPod Touch but whenever I try to update it I get a "Error 1935" popup half way through and when it is complete I can't run it, as I get either Error 2, or Error 7 and a message regarding a missing .dll file.

I have tried numerous fixes posted on these forums, such as downloading the new .NET Framework and other Microsoft hotfixes.

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up +en passant.+

Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. Do they fail to install? If so, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 800736B3s, or a different error code? If they're different, what codes are you getting in Windows Update?

I've been having the same trouble with trying to upgrade to iTunes 10.1
This seems to be the most realistic reason for why the problem exists and how to fix it.

However, I have no earthly idea how to find the windows Module Installer to determine if it's on/disabled/eating etc.
Could you lend a hand on that? Googling it produces some rather consistently unhelpful searches and lots of code/tech speak which is well beyond my paygrade

Thanks
Daniel
Win7 64bit 12gigs RAM trying to upgrade from iTunes 9.4 to 10.1, always get error message 7, iTunes failed to install properly or a missing .dll message.
Thanks again
