"Get", "Get All", "Subscribe" buttons not showing on podcast display

I posted this as a reply on another thread yesterday, but since today I have new info, I decided to post a new topic. After updating to iTunes 10.1.1 on my Windows 7 desktop PC, there is no longer a "Get" button shown for un-downloaded episodes on the podcast display. For example, I subscribe to "PBS NewsHour Podcast" and it comes in as several episodes each day. On Dec 15, there were 6 episodes, one for each of their news stories. iTunes automatically downloaded only the last one (i.e. the default setting for a podcast); the other episodes were grayed out. Previously, there was a "Get" button next to each episode that I could click to retrieve the episode, but that button no longer appears, and there is not a quick way to download the grayed out episodes that I want.

Similarly, there is no "Get All" button next to the podcast name for a podcast with grayed out episodes. And there is no "Subscribe" button next to unsubscribed podcasts.

Today I discovered that these buttons do appear on my Windows XP laptop with iTunes 10.1.1. So, I speculate that this is somehow related to Windows 7.

The only workaround that I have found is to change the settings for the PBS NewsHour podcast to "Download all episodes" and then do "Update Podcast". This will then retrieve all episodes and I must then go remove the ones that I don't want. This is not too bad of a workaround, but I'd much prefer to have the "Get" button back.

Any ideas about what is going wrong on my Windows 7 iTunes?

Have you checked to make sure the Parental Control is not on?

*edit/preferences/parental control - disable/Podcasts,* make sure the box is not checked, that is, no tick in the box.

Thanks, fiend, for the suggestion. But this was the very first thing I tried after seeing your suggestion in another thread. It did not make a difference; the problem was still there after verifying that podcasts were not disabled.

HOWEVER, the problem has now disappeared, and I am going to mark the problem as "resolved" even though I don't know why. Only a couple of hours after posting my message on this forum, I looked at the Podcast display in iTunes, and the "Get" button was there (as were the "Get All" and "Subscribe" buttons). I don't know what I changed to fix it, but I confess that I had been fiddling with various settings and preferences. I had also run the diagnostics, which showed nothing, and the problem persisted after that. Also, the problem had persisted for over a day spanning at least two system reboots and several restarts of iTunes. I wish I had taken a screen shot to prove to myself that I wasn't just seeing things. But I know for sure that those buttons were missing two days ago, but they are okay now.

Sorry for the confusion.

I'm having this problem in Windows XP, HOWEVER you *can still download the grayed-out podcasts*. The button is invisible (for lack of a better term) so if you click where the button usually is, you can start downloading the podcast. It takes a bit of hunt-and-pecking. The button is still there, you just can't see it.

Tried reboots and settings fiddling myself, to no avail. May try reinstalling iTunes...

*O M G User uploaded file* I was about to go out of my mind! I just started back up working out and I was going to download some podcasts of workouts, music, etc... and I couldn't fine the buttons at all! I have some 300+ favs from when I had my old computer and never bothered to transfer them. I searched google and $ing for every possible combination of "button" "missing" "itunes", etc... and couldn't find it anywhere. I finally found it with you guys.

Strange that such an obvious bug hasn't happened to more people and it's not been fixed sooner or had more listings in the search pages.
