iphone music to apple tv

You should get the same airplay icon from music inside the ipod app as you would with video inside said app. It sounds like it's on the same network if video is working from the phone.

Try closing the app (via multi-task bar) and/or powering down and rebooting to see if that helps.

I was having the same problem with the iPod on my iPhone 4. It would show the Airplay option for videos, but not for music when trying to stream to my brand new Apple TV. I followed vazandrew's advice and closed the iPod in the multi-task bar and powered down my phone and now it's there. Working now. Thanks vaz!!

I am having the same issue, Airplay available for videos but not audio!? I have tried closing down the App and re-opening, reseting Apple TV etc but no joy!

Also, I can link to my itunes account on my PC but is there no option to sync your iPhone catalogue with Apple TV and bypass itunes on you PC? It's annoying having to have my PC on all the time when all the content is on my iphone! Can the iphone not be seen as a 'computer' and sync jus the same?

You don't mention powering down your iPhone, which is the thing that I suspect worked for the others. If you haven't already then try that.

As for your second point, if you get Airplay to work properly then that will be the closest to doing this. The Apple TV can't pull from the iPhone so you will have to use Airplay.

You can't just close down the app. You need to go to the multitasking tray and hold down on it until it starts wiggling. Then hit the little red minus sign to completely close it down. That should force it to reestablish the Airplay link when you open the app back up. Rebooting the phone does the same thing except takes longer to do.

I had the same problem. I have the iPhone 3Gs and decided to get IOS 4.2.1 so i could stream the songs from my iPhone to my Apple TV. I could stream from my Macbook Pro fine and I could stream Movies from iPhone but not music. I restarted my iPhone and the airplay icon came up but still sometimes i try and the icon has disappeared so I have to restart it again.

Same problem also. Would just love to get it working for music.
