airport firmware update 7.5.2 and iPhone 4g

After I installed the software update for the Airport Utility (5.5.2) and firmware for Airport Time Capsule (7.5.2) my iPhone 4g does not connect to the internet. I have reset the network on iPhone. It will not connect to the main network config at all. It will find the wireless signal for the "guest network" setting, but will not connect to internet or mail. My iPhone is running the newest OS 4.2. Help.

Thank you for your response. I have the wireless channel set to auto. I don't think I have an interference problem, since all other computers access the network just fine. The iPhone was able to join network prior to the 7.5.2 update. I'll try selecting a channel, I didn't think it was necessary since I only have one basestation.

I installed 7.5.2 on my TimeCapsule, to which I have a MacMini attached (via GigE) as a file server. Curiously, I found that from a MacBookAir (connected to the TC via wireless)
- writing to the MacMini's disk worked well (8-10MB/sec)
- reading and writing to the TC's own disk also worked well (same speeds)
- but reading from the MacMini's disk was slow as molasses (~0.4 MB/sec!)
Rebooted everything a few times, tried with and without an extra Ethernet switch in between MacMIni and TC, to no avail. Reverted the TC to 7.4.2, and all was well.
I'll try more systematic experiments in my copious spare time, but this is at least suggestive of problems with 7.5.2.

I too had to step back down to 7.4.2. Terrible streaming speeds. Couldn't stream to my Apple TV2. Streamed fine from my Macbook Pro (through the Extreme), but not from the mini (which is being used to share the internet connection via Airport->Ethernet port on Extreme. Another test I tried was to copy a file from the mini to the MBP via the Extreme. It was a 100MB file that was going to take 23 minutes to copy. I aborted the copy and downgraded the firmware on the Extreme and tried again. This time it took less than a minute to copy the file. Something is wrong with 7.5.2.

Hum, I wonder if you configuration went afoul during the upgrade.

**Warning read through the entire post before attempting**

Open your AU and goto Menu ->Manage Profiles. Click the "+" button to add a profile. Name the second profile some (click on the profile and hit enter). Then click on the "Active" radial button for your second profile.

Make sure you have an Ethernet cable so you can attach your computer to your AEBS in case you have to reconfigure it.

Hit update.

Your AEBS will reboot and now be on your second profile you created.

See if your iPhone 4 can connect. Also make sure you the profile (settings) has a compatible radio type the iPhone 4 can connect to (2.4GHz).

If that does not work, lets export your config to a file (for safe keeping). In the AU go to File - Export Configuration File... and save the config file off. Then I would do a AU ->Base Station ->Restore Default settings and config the AEBS from scratch. Remeber, because you saved the config, you can always import the config back to the AEBS using the AU.

I'm having the same issue after having updated my TimeCapsule to 7.5.2. Everything connects fine except my iPhone (3G with iOS 4.2.1). You can see it try to connect to the wireless network but immediately disconnects...then reconnects...then disconnects. I don't have the TC providing DHCP or DNS, another device does this. I also have three AirPort Express units which have also been updated to 7.5.2. Have also tried deleting and recreating the WiFi network in the iPhone. When looking in the details of the network config on the iPhone, you can see an IP address temporarily, but immediately disappears. Looking for options to try other than downgrading all my AirPorts.

According to what has been published on this update "Disables TKIP security with 802.11n rates per the Wi-Fi Alliance specifications". Is it possible that your configuration is TKIP and you're association is getting rejected because of this. I don't have an iPhone, but presumably there is some sort of options on what sort of rekeying crypto is used. Try starting from scratch with an open network (briefly) and see if you can connect, then try different security options. I have to say, though, deleting your network on the iPhone should have worked, but maybe something is stuck in the access point.
