Hi, i just get my new ipod nano 6th generation, an i've got a little problem:
i don't know how to turn it off... i know, it's a silly question, but i don't know if klicking on the repose button is enough...
i thank everybody who can help me !
It is a silly question, especially since the question has been asked and answered a couple of dozen times. The Apple website has online manuals for ALL products, including the 6th generation iPod Nano. It would behoove you to read it closely. I'm not going to give you a fish, but I've told you how to fish.
Thats not true. I just spoke to a apple tech and there is a problem with shutting off the nano 6 gen. Just check the net for a forum with 144 complaints! They need to download a patch as soon as possible! Lots of people have returned theirs because of the issue. They need a on off switch. The unit will run even in sleep mode. I understand that it shuts off in 36 hours .... not the issue. This issue must be resolved!!!!!
The tech you spoke to does not know what they are talking about, and 144 complaints is a paltry number. If you press pause and then the sleep button it will stop and use minimal power. After about 12 hours it will go into deep sleep. It will NEVER be completely off, but then again this is true since the 3rd Generation Nano. If they put a patch out that completely turned it off you would have to reset the time & date every time you turned it back on. Then you would have a lot more than 144 complaints about that.
I don't know if this helps or not. I read on the net recently that you can shut off the Nano by;
pressing down the '-' volume button.
then pressing down the 'sleep' button at the same time.
using another finger, now press the '+'volume button.
After about 3-5 seconds, a screen will come up with a list of functions.
The first entry is 'Standby' and there should be an arrow next to it.
Now hit the 'Sleep' button and it should do exactly that and save power, with no headphones plugged in either.
While you were playing it you pressed pause, the music stopped, you pressed the sleep button on top and it drained the battery? I would also suggest you unplug the headphones, especially if they have lay controls (not a requirement). Also remember if it is connected to a computer and goes into sleep mode charging will cease and it can deplete the battery.
I bought this nano for my mom and we too think it's ridiculous that there is no on/off button. sleep mode is turning it completely off, poorly designed.
