Downloading apps using a second computer

My iPhone 3Gs and all its apps are sync'ed with a G5, I inadvertently download a paid app on an iMac and it wont sync the app to the iPhone without wiping out all the existing apps. The app and its check box are grayed out. How do I load the app into the iPhone?

I have spent a lot of time hunting through the Helps, resources and forums looking for some help on this and I am beginning to think I am the only one who has experienced this problem, but I know this can't be true. Any help would be appreciated.

Download the app on the computer you normally sync with & sync it to your phone. You can re-download purchased apps for free.

An iphone will sync iTunes content with ONE computer at a time. Any attempt to sync such content with a second computer will result in ALL itunes content being first erased from your phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. This is a design feature & cannot be overridden.

You should be able to download the app to your normal computer ( http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519) and get it onto yout iPhone that way.

If you are away from that computer, then you download all your apps to the iMac and then try syncing - I had a similar issue when I moved to a new computer and it said that it would delete all my apps off it, but it didn't (though I did copy all music and apps to it first).
