iPad access Time Capsule

I have a 2T time capsule. I have 3 Macs that use it for time machine backups. There is plenty of room on it so I have a few files on it that I can access from any Mac.

A Mac sees a file easily just by accessing the drive.
How can I access a file from the iPad? I just want to read a special PDF.

VNC programs don't access the Time Capsule, only computers. Of course, I can see the Time Capsule that way. But I want to access the TC from the iPad if the computers are off.

I can access a PDF on my other computers by putting it in the sites folder of the computer. Then i view it as a web page since I know the addresses of the other computers. And the computers have to be on.

But even if I know the address of the time capsule, there is no sites folder to do that.

It is the perfect app for what I want to do. I can see files on the Time Capsule and the Macs as well.
The directions are very easy to follow and are part of the app.
I had a few questions which I emailed to the developer, and they were answered very quickly.
Thanks.

Ah, i see you referred me back to September when I asked the question.
Unfortunately, I never followed up because I fell and broke my arm and I forgot about the problem until recently.

I did try to get zumocast now, but the site says downloads are temporarily unavailable.
And a poster said that a server software program is needed on the Mac to enable the process. I assume that means that the Mac must be on as well as the Time Capsule.

So I will stick with FileBrowser. It is perfect. The Mac does not need to be running either.

Thanks

Sorry to hear that, hope you're getting better.

Glad JG was able to sort that out for you. Sounds like you're all set. 😉

I just got all my apps into folders and noticed that zumocsst was there after all. So I must have gotten it in September per your suggestion. Upon launching, it wanted me to sign up. I guess I did not do that, nor do I want to. I will stick with what works for now.

Yes, the arm is getting better, but still needs therapy. Thanks!

Hi

I would like to be able to access my TC, and any attached USB disks, from my iPad. I was reading up on this and apparently FileBrowser is the app to use for that. Just to check I wanted to try the same thing on my iPhone using NetPortalLite and this is causing me quite some grief. I can easily manage to attach my macbook to my iphone like that but when it comes to the TC then my luck changes. I get an "unknown user or password" no matter what I try.

My setup in NetPortalLite is as follows:

Display Name: TCNAS
Name / IP Address: MyTC
DNS Domain Suffix: local

This clearly enables the iphone to locate the TC but when it prompts me for user and password the fun stops. My TC is running version 7.5.2 btw.

Have anyone of you experienced similar issues .. and found a solution?

Regards,

Jan
