SD Memory Card in PCMCIA card slot?

I've got a newer digital Canon A1100 camera that uses an SD memory card with JPEG format photos.

Can I use a PCMCIA card adapter for the SD memory card and will it and the JPEG photos be recognized by my PowerBook G3 Wallstreet running OS 9.1? Or is it more complicated than that???

My Wallstreet read JPEGs from my older Canon A75 camera in this manner, but that camera uses a CompactFlash card with a PCMCIA card adapter. I just shove the card and adapter into the PCMCIA card slot and it appears on the desktop and the photos open perfectly. Works great with no additional software.

Will an SD card in a PCMCIA card adapter work the same no fuss manner?

Thanks!

Does the PCMCIA card adapter have an SD plug-in slot? If it does, then it should.

However, some years ago, I had a USB memory card reader. Then when I bought a 4GBHD SD card, the reader wouldn't read it. I had to buy a new card reader.

If the PCMCIA card adapter doesn't work, suggest you buy (about $10 - $20) a USB memory card reader.

Yep, its fine. Well it was many years ago on my PNG3 Lombard.

Had a CF PCMCIA card adapter too for my Nikon cameras and an SD card adapter for Canon. But I have something in the back of my mind that says to be wary of large capacity cards, ie. no more than 4GB. I'm sure I tried a 16GB CF card in a more recent PBG4 and all I got was the first 4GB.

Not sure where you can source such an adapter now, with so many cheap USB card readers available. You used to be able to even get a PCMCIA card adapter for Sony MemoryStick.

USB is the other option, but it will be painfully slow.
