Turning unnamed faces off?

I have another photo program (PhotoShop Elements) and want to use that and turn off iphoto all together. (Is that possible?)
This feature is horribly annoying. Does anyone know whether they have done anything about it yet?
iPhoto menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback
what about now? still no 'correction' on this feature?
just avoid forcing your user to do anything!
Well it's August 2013 and we can see how well Apple responds to feedback, Lots of threadfs on being able to turn it off. It's still there which shows Apple hasn't changed a bit over the years, they don't care what their customers want becasue Apple knows best.
Perhaps you misunderstand what this forum is. It's a place for users to talk to other users only. Apple don't rpomise to read anything here. So all those threads aren't relevant. Did you send feedback?
This did the trick for me:

Though there's no guarantee it will not rear its ugly head again!

This is an unsupported Hack and should be used at the users own risk - and certainly with a good backup

Apple has a product, that allows you to disable Faces, and Previews, and all kinds of customizations, but a bit more expensive than iPhoto. It is called Aperture. If you want a more elaborate photo management software, buy Apple's professional software.
Then you do not need an unsupported hack to disable Faces.
In the Photos top menu, 'File' then 'Hide Face Names' (in the third section of the drop down just under Metadata)
That's a different application - Photos - not iPhoto. There is no such command in iPhoto. in current versions of iPhoto you can remove the option by collapsing the Faces tab in the Info Pane.
Ah apologies for the confusion. At least Apple has addressed it in its latest application. I doubt it will do the same for iPhotos.
