Can iPad execute Javascript?

I know iPad is unable to render Flash (.swf) objects, but is it capable of executing Javascript in its web browser (e.g. for web based games??)

can you explain? Know many sites have flash or java, not familiar with difference tween java and javascript.
For example play backgammon and chess on pocket-monkey.com which calls for java, but unable to load and get it get the message "your phone, device or computing platform does not support Java SE"

Thank you for your response. JavaScript and Java are not the same. JavaScript is a scripting language that is interpreted on the client (browser) side. It allows one to interact with the DOM. Despite the name, it is not related to Java (which I presume lord steve prohibits on iPad as Flash is banned). I am only interested in JavaScript.

The biggest problem with JavaScript (as with HTML5) is that every browser seems to interpret the code slightly different... resulting in developers having to code their scripts 20,000 ways to make each browser render the effect they want.

I was just curious to know if JavaScript was permitted at all on iPad -- based on the first answer it seems that it is which is good 🙂

Will need to log in and see if that helps as to the pocket monkey game site maybe tomorrow. I am on my desktop pc right now, will look in tomorrow or next from my now beloved ipad 😀
I also enjoy watching Marestare site, which is to moniter and observe expectant Mares and their foals during and after birth but figured that I would not be able to do. Still trying to determine what can and what can not be done.
