There are purchased items that have not been transferred to your iTunes...

I'm trying to update my iphone. Says there are purchased items on the iphone that have not been transferred to your itunes library.

I've synced and resynced. Why won't it take the ones off of my iphone and store them in the itunes library? I've never had this problem before, not sure what has changed.

Thanks

oh my, I must have done something really bad. I checked the manually manage songs option thinking I could maybe get the songs to transfer to itunes manually. It didnt work. Not only that, it unchecked the sync music option.

If I try to turn on sync music, it wants to wipe the phone clean.

I'm really lost here. I feel I am backed into a corner and about to lose a lot of music I've paid for on my phone.

If I checked the manage music manually, where in the world do I get to manage it at? How is it managed if it won't let me check the sync music option without losing everything on my phone?

You can either manually manage music or sync music. And yes, if you change that option, iTunes will first erase your phone of all music. Normally, this is not a problem as the music content should be in your iTunes library. I should add, there is no advantage to manually managing music with an iPhone as the iPhone does not support disk mode. Better to just create different playlists & sync those to your phone.

At this point you need to get the content off your phone & into your library. Use the File>Transfer Purchases command before you do anything else.
