so i dropped my ipod in a cup of coffee.

suggestions. the controls don't work and the battery died really quick. a friend told me to take it apart rinse it off and let it dry for a few days but if i open it the warranty is void (i think). i don't want to take it back because i am on ipod number four in less than a year and the guys at the apple store are going to think something is up.

In that case, my recommendation is to try and get it replaced, then buy the most protective, shockproof case you can find (that, or stop dropping it 🙂

If they replace it, lucky you. If not, you got lucky three times already.

If they don't replace it, and you let it sit and it doesn't work after it completely dries out, then you have nothing to lose from trying to take it apart and fix it.

My recommendation is that you be more careful, and learn how to treat expensive pieces of technology properly. The ordeal you put yourself through sounds ludicrous. To contrast that, there isn't anything I own that looks a day older than it was when I first got it; technology products, books, anything. ****, I even still have an old IBM-compatible 286 machine in my closet that works perfectly in every respect. Pity they don't build such sturdy computers these days.

BTW, whatever Apple store you go to, they'll have a record of your history, including all the replacements you've received.

I know why not take it apart and rinse it some good hydrogen peroxide and dont forget to scrub around those corners....

Then after youve done that aply some strong deoderant spray to mask that strong coffee smell. You know what your mother says unsightly breath wont attract the female ipods out there.....

Yeah you really cant get it replaced esp with the strong sticky and smell coffee on it. I mean that is human fault and error.

FOUR dropped and ruined in ONE year??!

I think the real question here is WHY do you keep dropping these things? Are you just hyper and distracted or do you actually have trouble gripping things?

I only say this because I have nerve damage in my left hand and constantly drop things with that hand so I have to pay close attention and be more careful. It's totally possible you have something like that and don't even realize it.

Yeah, I know, completely random - but I'm just sayin.....
