Can't control sound volume?

Is there any way to increase or decrease sound volume using Apple Remote?

Sound level is very loud on my audio system when listenning to music or playing movies compared to other input devices as DVD player or DSL TV decoders.

Could help?

iMac 27 Core i5 2,66GHz, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

no. the volume would be controlled by what the appletv is connected to (TV or amp).

your DVD player doesn't have a volume control, it is what the DVD player is connected to that controls the volume.

While what you are saying is true... normally... The 1st generation ATV did allow you to adjust the volume of its output = A feature I sorely miss when I only have the ATV remote in my hand and I think it has gotten too loud. 😟

only for music, not video.
and it didn't seem to make much sense having it only for music. it makes more sense the way it is now by passing volume control to the output device.

Same Problem here. Please write your feedback to apple.

I need this feature. I'am using ATV2 with a 24' TFT and via a DAC with an active speaker system. The only way to control the volume is on my laptop or iPhone streaming music via airplay. On the Mac you have to use the volume controller in iTunes, not your master volume control. And it only works for music. In videos volume is always on 100%! 😟

You could control it from the output device if you wanted in the old version too. This is just Apple being stubborn and idealistic a la no flash on the iPad. A tablet that doesn't let you view some of the best content on the web? Are you kidding?
