iPhoto 9.1.1 Says you can use external email client but it doesn't work,.

I installed the iPhoto 9.1.1. It indicates you can now use an external email client but it gives an error message:

Microsoft Outlook got an error code. Can't make
subject: IMG __ into type properties of draft
window.

Anyone got this to work?

I am receiving the same error having selected Microsoft Entourage from the drop down list which also has the Outlook icon with it!

I assume the problem is that it is indeed Entourage that is supported and not Outlook.

My question is why would Apple issue an update that covers outdated software? This is hardly n update, rather a step back in time!!

Make sure that Outlook/Entourage is the defaulf mail program.

*Apple Mail*
From Mail menu, select Preferences, then select the "General" tab.
From the drop-down menu next to "Default mail reader" select Outlook
Close the preference panel and quit Mail

Outlook
From Outlook Menu, select Preference, then click on General.
Click on Make Default botton
Close the preference panel and quit Outlook

Thanks for the suggestion Mauro, but the error seems to have nothing to do with Outlook/Entourage not beeing correctly registered as the default mail program.

I rechecked the status of Outlook and it IS already registered as the default mail client.

However, I'm still experiencing the same error message:

Microsoft Outlook got an error code. Can't make
subject: IMG __ into type properties of draft
window.

So, I think Apple is in charge to present a solution resp. fix iPhoto...

No - Entourage has been supported for a long time - this restore that long standing support - it does not add anything new

As to why Outlook is not supported - you will have to ask Apple - no one here but users just like yourself

Another disappointment.

I was excited when I saw that the iPhoto update was available and one of the fixes listed was the ability to email photos with another email client.

I thought - "finally! I'll be able to use my new iLife software with my new version of Office 2011."

After installing the update, I thought it was a bit weird that the email client preferences showed an Outlook icon yet it was titled "Entourage," but didn't think much of it.

Then I realized it didn't work! I got an error "can't make into properties of draft window."

Now Apple might say that it's Microsoft's problem, and Microsoft might say that it's Apple's problem and that overly aggressive Apple Discussion Board poster, Terrence Devlin will probably tell everyone that they are just whining and everything's fine. But bottom line is - it doesn't work the way it should.

Sheesh. So close, but still broken.

Apparently Apple needs to fix it.
And Microsoft needs to fix their scripts because even the scripts installed by Office 2011 are old and wrong some of them still looking for entourage!!!

Meanwhile you can use one of this scripts.

This one allows you, after launching the script, to select one or more pictures and attach them to Outlook new mail.
File name: Add photos to Outlook.zip
File size:51.74 KB

This one. Launch iPhoto and select a picture(s), launch this script and picture will be add to Outlook new mail.
File name: Add photos to Outlook 2.zip
File size:49.58 KB

Hope this help while a fix is (are) researched.

As one other post said: "so close and yet so far...". I was showing my wife how to 'easily' attach 1+ photos from iPhoto to an email: "and I'm sure it will be super easy (after all, these are Apple products) and offer to auto-resize the images as well to make them smaller image sizes" and to my negative surprise I found out:

1) The iPhoto 9.1.1 UI for selecting an external email program is abysmal

2) Oh, selecting an external email program is [hidden] within preferences rather than the obvious "share" menu location. Well, okay, anyway, now that we've finally found it, let's see, Outlook... well, isn't that special? You CAN'T SELECT OUTLOOK. Instead, you can select the 2008 MS email version that we don't own because every software reviewer in the world now tells us to buy Outlook instead of Entourage.

Well crap, let's just go do this on the PC using Picasa and Outlook instead. It's truly easy that way...

iPhoto 9.1.1 Says you can use external email client but it doesn't work,.
