Arial font problems in word

Arial font problems in word

MS Word does not display Arial font. Perhaps it is because I tried to tidy up my font list in Fontbook and disabled some of the older versions of the font. After I discovered that this caused problems in for instance Firefox (did not display text on some pages at all), I enabled the fonts back again. However, I find that in MS Word the text is still not showing. If I type, the cursor barely moves (although it does move a bit). If I select the text and change to other font, it is visible. The same text shows fine when i open it with other user on the same computer. Text is OK also in Pages and TextEdit. Any suggestions?

MacBook Pro 2.4 Gz 13", Mac OS X (10.6.5)

Thank you, Tom. The MS office forum helped - it appeared that one of the Arial fonts (the oldest one) had to be phisically deleted and that fixes the problem (no log-out or restart of the computer needed, just close the affected applications)
