I was getting very frustrated as my HK Soundsticks are still best unit I have found. They "died" on my last week, was about to go buy "new" figuring that they were simply past being supported. Found this post, tried it, AND IT WORKED! Thansk you very much!

Well, I've had the problem w. the HK Soundsticks not coming on when I boot the computer now for about 5 years ... I ALWAYS have to unplug the USB line, and plug it back in, for them to be recognized and show up in the Sound panel in Preferences ... and to start working.  And, obviously, that's across many versions of MacOS ... now 10.8.2 ...

Anyone have any ideas how to keep them recognized by the OS??

Powered down and unplugged USB for HK Sound Sticks, then powered up and plugged in USB and voila -  my Sound Sticks are showing up once again after mysteriously disappearing.

    Thank you!!
