Screen Protector

From what I can gather the screen is very hard. Do most of you feel that a screen protector is necessary? I took mine off because I like the quality of the picture without the protector.

While hard, the screen can certainly be scratched. Things affecting the special coating can certainly be spilled onto it. Or it can fall off the top of the car and land face-down on the gravel driveway.

I know that the latter is possible.

I've opted for the ZAGG shield set also, and have been very happy with it. Luckily, I applied it fairly early on.

I think that I have read on a previous thread, that there was some discussion about Apple advising to not use screen protectors on the iPad. I wish I could remember where I read it but I can not.

I put a screen protector on mine when I first bought it two months ago, but I hated everything about the way it looked and felt and I was scared from the very beginning about dirt or dust getting under the screen as well because it was such a pain in the a** to get it in place properly. I subsequently removed it about a week later, and I am meticulous about keeping the iPad out of harm's way. I am diligent about cleaning the screen using only the Apple supplied black cleaning cloth that came with my iMac and MaBook Pro.

I realize that there are many different screen protectors and shields that I could have tried, but for now, I prefer to use mine without one. I am very careful in how I handle it, but I love the look of the screen without the screen protector that I was using.

The only reason I have one is to protect it from case itself. I use it in the elements and the fold over lid/case comes in contact with all the crap on the work bench, then I flip it back over before inspecting it for anything that could scratch the screen. That's the draw back to this case but over all, I just have to cool the jets and look before I close it over.
