I downloaded iTunes again, ran install and selected Repair. This installed and all seems to be working. Assume that the automatic download selected the wrong version of iTunes. Poor anyway, it is not even a major upgrade. Hope this helps in some way.

You need to check that you have the right version of iTunes to download - 32 or 64 bit according to your operating system.

I had the same problem after an iTunes update about 3 days ago. I didn't have to uninstall/reinstall or even reset. I just did a Windows repair.
Control Panel -> Uninstall Programs -> in the program list, find iTunes, right-click and repair. Took about 1 minute, I think it flashed up two different boxes. Then I could open iTunes and it all worked as normal.

Fearns is a legend he has the answer - When ITunes has the message
"iTunes cannot run because some of it's required files are missing."

Very frustrating and I notice threads like this dating back to 2006 so don't hold your breath for a permanent fix

It looks like a couple of methods work but this one is easiest for sure as descirbed by Fearns - I did it ans literally 2 mins later without a restart - Itunes is working as normal

1/ Open Control Panel
2/ Open Programs
3/ Right click on ITunes and select "repair" from drop down list
Windos reconfigures ITunes for a couple of mins and then Itunes is back

I was able to uninstall, now I cannot even get on the internet. Used a flash drive to reinstal Itunes, able to open Itunes Library, but not get on line, any ideas? I am using another laptop, on the same line so I know the line is good. I have Windows on this system and Vista 32-bit on the one with the problems.
