'Cache' pronunciation ...

Strictly not related to any particular forum area but if anyone knows, developers will:

The correct pronunciation of 'cache' is ? a) 'cash' b) cashay (like sashay) c) 'cayche'

I believe it's a, but it's from the French verb 'cacher' which is closest to b, and I've spoken to a couple of techs who pronounce it like b, 'cashay'

I live in a self taught world and I've always said it as 'cash' - or probably better as 'kash'...

Hi Rich

cachet/ cache
I prononce the e, unlike cash.Though for comp terms I guess most use the pron, cash.
I think it meant purse, in French (as you said)

following from link below:
If you have a cache of cash, this word is easier to remember. There is no silent E on cache but a silent T on cachet, a seal or mark of authenticity.

Let's see: I'm gonna guess you do that because you pronounce your screen name "e-me" rather than "eem". Thanks so much for reviving this almost-unbearably desultory thread. Not to mention your citing of the ambiguous and clumsy explanation at alphadictionary. Oops. Well, I guess I did mention it after all. I will hereafter pronounce your screen name "eem". Please forgive me for seeming to bait you, but things have been way too sleepy here. It's all in fun with something like this.

Close, but wrong coast. PDX is Portland Oregon (airport identifier).

And you have never seen a muddy river area until you have seen the Willamette in the midst of a rainy Pacific NW (nord-ouest US) winter.

Copy-and-paste, eh? They say about the lecture system in education that it is a way to get information from the teacher's notebook to the student's notebook without touching the student's mind.

I shall take your word for it, having never, ever veiwed the Willamette at any time of the year.
I suppose you seen the Muddy River, little part of the Charles by Kenmore Back Bay.
As luck should have it I am a Canadian (US's back/ front yard) from Montreal & we learned to use our r's. Queens English mixed with the Kings French.

Be well out there in PDX.
