Recommended midi drum pad kit?

Hello, I'd like to start using a midi drum kit (instrument) with Garageband. (Something I can play like real drums.) However, I have no idea if they are all compatible with the GB software.

I would sure appreciate it if you guys would have some recommendations.

I use a Roland TD4-K. I use it with the AU called Addictive Drums. Both are fantastic bits of kit and work fine in Garage Band.

Does your TD4 hi-hat work well with GB? That is, does it trigger half-open sounds etc?

My son has the TD-4 drum kit and he wanted to use GB to record. We bought a MIDI-USB converter. GB MIDI preferences recognize the input but no music seems to come through. I assume we are missing something obvious. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the exact problem as abran1279.

i have the roland TD-4 drum kit, connected to macbook via midi-usb cable.

Garageband preferences shows 1 x midi input detected, and when i unplug or plug in the drum kit, a popup tells me that a midi has been detected etc, however I can not hear the drums or see any sign of them being detected in GB.

i have set my first track as a drum kit, and have hit the pads, and there is no indication that this signal is received in GB.

I have tried looking through the settings of GB to set it to receive input from my drumkit but to no avail.

any help would be much appreciated!

Drum kits often default to MIDI channel 10, and GB prefers to see MIDI channel 1. If the MIDI channel on your drumset is 10, try changing it to 1.
