So what do we do? Why is the OLD Apple ID in the Store log on information? This is not what is in the settings... how could this be??? How do we replace the old / invalid / incorrect Apple ID for the STORE logon information? HOW? simple question.
As noted numerous times in this thread, Settings > iTunes and App store, tap the AppleID, Sign Out then sign in with the ID you want.

As has been said in this thread multiple times, if you have apps downloaded with the old Apple ID, you will either need to use its password, or delete said Apps and download them again with the new Apple ID

Jun 10, 2015 5:27 AM in response to Chris CAby rcandle,Okay I signed using settings -> Store (there is no iTunes and App store in my Settings) and signed in with the correct ID. But STILL after exiting settings and tapping on the App Store blue icon the OLD user ID is pre-filled and cannot be changed. Why is that?

What version of iOS are you on?
Settings > General > About.
Also, which device specifically do you have?

Jun 10, 2015 10:05 AM in response to rcandleby Phil0124,Ahh, its a first generation iPad. iOS 5.1.1
If you've signed out of the old Apple ID in Settings->Store, where are you seeing the Old apple Id then?
If you open the blue App Store App, tap on Featured, and scroll all the way to the bottom, what do you see in the Apple Id button there?
If you tap it can you sign out?

Jun 10, 2015 11:09 AM in response to Phil0124by rcandle,So... just reaffirming the behavior. Since the apps were downloaded with a different ID. That different ID is auto-filled in when you try to update an app even if / though the device is signed in to the store with a new Apple ID. The system is wanting the password associated with the ID that downloaded the app in the first place. If I try to download a new app, that works just fine.
Thanks all for your responses

Jun 10, 2015 11:14 AM in response to rcandleby Phil0124,Correct. Apps will forever require the Apple Id used to buy/download them.
If you still have apps tied to that old Apple Id, they will require it to update always.

Did you create a new AppleID?
Or did you update your old AppleID?
If you simply updated, you can delete the app and redownload it with your updated AppleID and it'll have the updated AppleID.

Apr 27, 2016 6:40 PM in response to DocTaSpockby SimonsIpad15,Finally, a bit of advice that works! The only thing I would add is that after you press the Sign Out, the Apple ID remains (email address) remains the same as it was before, and it doesn't appear you can change it. But you can change it, just press the email address and it will allow you to change the ID.
Apple software is not intuitive. Far from it.

me please

May 7, 2016 7:08 AM in response to BBIIGGgurl26by King_Penguin,If your friend is signed into the cloud then Settings > iCloud > Sign Out - if he's left Find My iPad enabled you will need his password to log out.
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content & Settings to remove his content and put the iPad back to factory defaults.
