Q: How to change Apple ID on iPad?

Hey Guys ~

I have posted this question every where and no one seems to know how to help me. I changed my email address at iTunes. Which is my ID, obviously. But it is all set up at itunes, and on my iPad too, via settings.

But ~

When I go to update my 11 updates, it pops up with my old ID/email, which no longer is operating.

So I can't update my apps or purchase from itunes through my iPad. Yes, I have gone to Settings, and signed out, signed back in, with NEW ID/email, and that is all good...

But updating my apps ~ still has my old email.

Help? Please?

On your Iphone (and I assume Ipad) go to App Store - make sure you're in Featured - scroll all the way down and there are two buttons - one called Redeem and the other your Apple ID.  You can update in here to your new APPLE ID.  Really hard to find (you'd think it would be in settings or something) but very very easy once you find it.

    It is.

Settings > Store, tap the AppleID then sign out then sign in with the AppleID you want.

Just figured it out, as I was having the same problem after changing my apple ID on January 19. suddenly I could not up date from my iPad even tho all other sites had the correct info. I finally changed to the new id under settings on the iPad. I got a message when trying to updat an ap, that when using a new ID, all aps that were purchased under the old ID cannot be updated for 90 days. Hope that helps!

Please all of you be aware, my gmail, iTunes, and cloud was hacked into on jan  19, I was notified by google, but the only way I knew for apple, was that I received a lockout after purchasing a book. I got 2receipts, one was real, and the other was a fake, so Apple caught it and immediately locked me out of my acct. I was forced to call to have it reset. but I am glad that apple and google are on top of things. Then I noticed that my iPad suddenly had another email in the cloud settings, so I had to fix that as well. Now my pw are more complex and longer.

    Oh gdayscott!!!!!

THANK YOU! I was getting a little manic over this ridiculous conundrum ! Such a maze of non-answers and difficult to understand hits ! Finally, your help was THE answer and it worked; somehow I doubt that this is a rare occurrence and IMO it should be noted somewhere obvious for iPad etc users!

I have to THANK YOU again! This issue was making me very grouchy .....so I suppose my entire family thanks you!

Hi Chris, great help and information, thank you. The problem I am experiencing is when I try and update my apps my daughters email address comes up even though my email address is shown in the featured area and there my apps. I've followed some of the steps you have listed with the hopes it would reset but no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Because those apps were purchased on her iTunes account.

in iTunes, find on of those apps, right - click click - get info.

The account the app was purchased on will show in the Info tab.

The only reason her AppleID would show up is one/some of the apps requiring update are hers.

Thanks but none of the apps are hers, it's my iPad the only thing she has is music on iTunes.

A point is being missed here.  I have the same issue.

I loaded 1 app.  My wive loaded 25.  Every update request including those installed with her ID are still asking for my ID which was not the ID used to install them.

This is clearly a bug.  I can find no option to flush my ID out of the system.  I can't put my wifes ID as alternate in my account because it is used by her.  Now she is stuck having to use my ID and password to update the apps she downloads.  This is broken.

What would happen if I delete my account or change the name?

Ok, so after numerous calls with apple and emails with iTunes, this is what they said -"I would suggest restoring your iPad and then re-syncing it with your account to get everything to how it was prior to your daughter syncing it with her account.

I did some research for you and this article explains how to restore your device:

iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring iOS software

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

I found this article for you on the iTunes support website at:

    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww

At that website you will find a wide variety of helpful tutorials, troubleshooting tips, and support information.

I hope that this information will help to resolve the issue. If you require more in-depth assistance, you will need to call Apple technical support (there may be a fee associated with the call). To find the appropriate phone number, please visit:

Thank you for choosing the iTunes Store for all your entertainment needs and have a wonderful day!

Ok, what's your status. I just fixed my issue.  In a nut shell email got hacked, got a new one. kept using my "hacked email" which i created my iTunes account using. wasn't an issue till recently, got a mac as well and needed to avoid 10 million passwords so we went in and changed my apple id to my "new email"  could not update any apps or buy anything after that.  searched high and low for answers till one person...i will get the name of who it is after my post and i will thank them...lol  they said to go to the apps icon. featured scroll to the bottom click on your apple id click log out...not forgot (which i kept pressing) then log in. use your "new email" and new password and it should be perfect.  i hope this helps cause finally it helped me.
