Ical Appointments For Multiple Days

When I create a new event on my Iphone 32-3GS and put in the dates and times it carries the dates automatically over the multiple days that specified. When I sync the phone with my Ical at home it only shows up on the beginning date. I then have to physically drag the event across the dates in Ical on my mac. Why is this? Why does it not carry over like the Iphone?

I am sure it is my ignorance that has over looked some setting. Thanks in advance for your help.
