my iphone 4 microphone doesn't work

i have this series problem
The microphone sometimes doesn't work , the caller can't hear my voice
i have sent my iphone 4 to apple care they checked it and they replyed that my device is working fine. they sent it back to me!
Now the same problem is happening?!
i have updated to 4.2.1
and the problem still the same.
what shall I do?

Are you covering the microphone with your finger, hand or a case?

I also has this error. My Iphone 4 worked like a charm and then the microphone suddenly goes silent. It´s possible this started when i upgraded to latest firmware 4.2.1.

I can sometimes get it to work with a handsfree but when I pull it out the microphone works for 3sek and then goes silent.

In diffrent forums I have read that this is a common error but I can´t tell if its a hardware or a software- problem.

no i am not covering the mic with my finger! and i don't use any cover or bomber.

The problem happened with firmware 4.1 and after updating to 4.2.1
