Graphics driver incompatible with Samsung PX2370?

I recently purchased a Samsung PX2370 monitor but the display seems distorted and there are faded horizontal lines across the monitor when I connect it to a Mac. This issue is non-existant when connected to a windows PC.

I talked to Samsung support about this and they told me that my Mac's graphics card driver is outdated. I searched everywhere, and I can't seem to find anything about updating this driver, nor can I find any third-party solutions to this problem.

Has anyone else had this problem, or know of a way to fix this?

Graphic drivers are 'bundled' with Mac OS.

You could install Windows 7 and see how it looks.

I think there are a lot of questions about 3rd party monitors, I'd check iMac forum for starters.

Does it use a minidisplay adapter? does the iMac have ATI 4xxx series gpu?

What resolution do you get? what is its native resolution?
And, have you looked into SwitchResX?

This monitor's standard resolution is 1920 by 1080. I have never heard of SwitchResX before, but I downloaded it and tried it out. All I had to click on was the resolution that I had been using, and everything started displaying correctly. Thank you very much for recommending this software. I have little idea how it works or what it corrected, but it does the job!

By the way it with a D-Sub to DVI cable, which I adapted for the iMac with a DVI to Mini-DVI adapter. It has an ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro GPU.
