Q: Can I use this DIMM in this Powerbook G4?
*My father has a Powerbook G4:*
Model Name: PowerBook G4 15"
Model Identifier: PowerBook5,2
Processor Name: PowerPC G4 (1.1)
Processor Speed: 1.25 GHz
Number Of CPUs: 1
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 512 MB
Bus Speed: 167 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 4.7.1f1
Memory:
SODIMM0/J25LOWER:
Size: 256 MB
Type: DDR SDRAM
Speed: PC2700U-25330
Status: OK
SODIMM1/J25UPPER:
Size: 256 MB
Type: DDR SDRAM
Speed: PC2700U-25330
Status: OK
*....and I have an older 1GB Samsung DIMM that I'd like to install if possible.*
*The DIMM's label says:*
1GB 2Rx8 PC2-5300S-555-12-E3
Made in China M470T2953EZ3-CE6 0746
*Can it be used?*
*Also - just a general question - if a DIMM physically fits into the slot, is there a risk of permanently damaging the computer if the specs are wrong?*
Thanks

No. It won't fit into the slot.
