Mail application not working.

I don't know if anybody else has had this problem, but my mail application doesn't seem to work anymore. When I click on the icon to open it, nothing appears. The light underneath the icon appears and the pulldown menu does also, yet I can't open any window of it. I tried logging in as a different user, but it's the same. I also tried deleting the app and reinstalling it from the instalation disc but it still won't work.

iMac 27" i7, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

Instead of deleting the app and reinstalling from the Installation Disc use Time Machine to restore from a date you know it was working OK. I hate to say it but your solution was foolish. A simple restart of the computer would be the first place to start. If that didn't solve it then posting the problem would be the next solution. Also try the Mail forum, this is a general iMac forum.
