Changing Ipod to another's account?

Hello,
My older son sold his younger brother his ipod touch. I want to change the ipod to his name and give him his own account. How do I do this and keep the app's that are on the ipod now?

You don't.

Apps are tied to the account from which they are purchased.

So do I have to restore the ipod? How do I change the name on the ipod?

You change the name by clicking/double clicking on it, then typing whatever you like.

You can restore the ipod if your like or just sync it with a new library. When you sync to a new library, then it will erase the current content and replace with content from the new library.

I am trying to do the same thing. Big sister got the latest and greatest and gave her 2nd generation to her sister. Big sister deleted most music and saved some apps but now I am trying to set up little sister's account so she can use her gift cards. Is it possible to put her on my apple account? I am iPod dumb and don't know where to go to try and change her name on the account.
