I Got a New Canon GL2, But I have a Mac Os X 10.6

I am constantly updating my Apple Software; you know, to keep everything working properly. I currently have the Mac OS X 10.6.
I got a Canon GL2 for Christmas and I've been trying to figure out how to get it to connect to my iMac. I have installed all the software and followed all the directions that I possibly could.
It says that there may be connection problems for systems above 10.1...
Is there any solution?
Can I download 10.1 from Apple?

Leave your system as it is, 10.6 will not be the problem.

Can you tell us what you have tried so far, be specific with details.

Answer these questions to assist with getting started:
How is the camera connected to the Mac? USB or firewire?
Which Easy Setup is selected?
Are you an NTSC or PAL user?
Did you shoot 12 or 16 bit audio on the camera?

I have followed the instructions in the manual for mac users. I have installed the Image Browser and the Photostitch. I connected my camera through USB. I've turned it on to (VCR) Play and had it switched to tape just like they said in the manual. Nothing ever came up. I have tried going into Final Cut and clicking Log and Transfer but because the computer doesn't recognize anything, nothing shows up.

-The camera is connected through USB. I do not have any firewire cables. If I need one, could you state the price as well?

-Because the camera uses a tape, I researched and it said I have to have it set to DV-PAL Firewire Basic. But again, I don't have a Firewire Cable, so it's kind of stupid to have it set to that.

-Pal User

-I shot test footage on the 16-bit audio on the camera.

Hi -
*If your camera shoots on tape, you must connect to the computer via a firewire cable* and use *Log and Capture*, not Log and Transfer.

The USB connection is provided to offload still images that are stored on the memory card of your camera, but cannot be used to connect for video offload.

If you are using Final Cut, then you do not need the Canon software to Log and Capture your footage.

Canon cameras are notorious for erratic behavior even with the correct firewire cable, be prepared for some experimentation, particularly if you have other firewire devices connected at the same time.

The correct firewire cable depends on what firewire port is available on your Mac. If it is a firewire 800 port, then you need a FW 9 pin to FW 4 pin cable. If your Mac has firewire 400, then you need a FW 6 pin to FW 4 pin cable.

The firewire port on the camera can be labeled Firewire, DV, iLink, HDV . . . so you may have to look around on the camera for it.

Apparently my parents did also buy a firewire cable with the camera, but I didn't ask about it until now so they forgot to tell me. I have a firewire cable and it connects everything just fine 🙂
