Search doesn't work in Itunes using IE8

Using IE8 on a Windows XPHome PC. I put an entry in the search box (the one with the rounded corners and the magnifying glass icon on the left. I then click on the icon and nothing happens. That is the case in this forum as well (although the forum has the "more options" hyperlink to a working search page. I find looking for apps difficult in any case. The non-functioning search function makes it that much more difficult. How do I get search to work?

Can we clarify something? Are you trying to search for new Apps in the iTunes Store - and using the search box in iTunes? (I'm not sure why IE8 would be relevant.)

To actually use the search in iTunes, you press the enter key on your keyboard once you've typed in the search term. Do not try clicking the magnifying glass, that doesn't do it.

If you're looking in the Store, you need to be _in the Store,_ not in your library. Once you're in the store, hover your mouse over the words *App store* at the top and a drop-down arrow will appear. If you click _on the arrow_ the various sections for different Apps will show as a drop-down. You can select any of these directly.

If you know the name of an App, you can search from anywhere _in the store_ and a list will apear which will show that name (or similar) for any part of the store. For instance, if I search for the word "blue" (which isn't very specific, so I should get lots of results) I get a section for albums, TV series, music videos, iPhone apps, iPad apps, films, audiobooks and Podcasts - and I've missed out some more. Each section lists a few items, but has a *see all* option as well.

Does that help?

Actually, I tried from everywhere I could find. I mentioned IE 8 because one of the locations I was talking about was web based ( http://www.apple.com/webapps/). And I was also talking about the Forums search which is web based (that part was pretty clear in my posting, even if the other sites were not). I think that sometimes I hit the enter key but I guess I didn't at every location. I was also confused by the dropdown list that appears in the iTunes search box when you type an entry, which showed only a few items but was not scrollable.

I guess I got it now: Hit ENTER. I wish that there was a hint by the search box that instructed one to do that. (I don't know if that search procedure is typical of Apple UIs, but it is not standard in IE. Another reason why I thought it relevant to say I was using IE8
