after LCD replacement fans running loudly

How long ago was the display replaced? If the display was just replaced and the iMac came back that way, then it's on them to fix the problem.

It could be any number of things, +(a bad sensor, a loose sensor cable, a pinched sensor cable that just grounded out, etc.)+ try resetting the SMC again using the following instructions.

+1. Shut down the computer.+
+2. Unplug the computer's power cord.+
+3. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.+
+4. Release the power button.+
+5. Attach the computers power cable.+
+6. Press the power button to turn on the computer.+

Take it back, it sounds like they probably just forgot to reconnect or had a a sensor cable come loose during reassembly.

This time turn it on and check it out before leaving the shop.

Indeed the same exact thing happened to me once after an lcd replacement at the Apple store and indeed they had left a cable disconnected or loosened to the degree it disconnected in transit. Because of the obvious cause and affect and because it was under warranty they came into my home and 1-2-3 connect and the fans were back to normal.

Happened with me too, every time they replaced the LCD.
